Allegations of Research Misconduct
The rules of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which may be found at: https://publicationethics.org/misconduct, are used by the IJEMR journal to handle claims of research misconduct.
Before submitting, authors must read the journal's submission guidelines, instructions, and other rules carefully and comply to the terms. While authors have the option of suggesting potential reviewers for the peer-review process, all reviewers' qualifications and any conflicts of interest will be thoroughly scrutinised before they are invited to participate.
A report of research misconduct could be related to a peer-reviewed manuscript or a published article. The application and management of complaints of author misconduct should be handled with care, tact, and confidentiality, and in the following order:
- An paper submitted to or published in the journal is suspected of including scientific misconduct, according to the editorial office of the journal.
- The complaint must explicitly state the nature and extent of the misconduct; for example, in a case of plagiarism, the plagiarised paragraph should be emphasised, and the original and suspected publications should be cited.
- The editorial office will conduct an inquiry, during which time the journal's editor and the suspected article's corresponding author(s) will communicate.
- The related author(s) will be requested to explain the situation using factual statements and any proof that is available.
- If the suspected article's author(s) agrees to the misconduct allegation, the editorial office will take the following steps, depending on the circumstances:
- If the article has already been published, a correction or retraction may be required. However, there may be some controversy over the description's suitable wording.
- If misconduct is discovered during the review process, the review may proceed with the author(s) making the necessary adjustments.
- The article may be permanently retracted or denied if the author does not respond within the specified time frame or provides an inadequate reason. Confirmation will be sought from specialists at the relevant institution or other authorities as needed before making a decision.
- Once the matter has been resolved, the complainant will be notified of the outcome.
- After then, the complaint case will be considered closed.
